How is living at strafford this week? Honoring our veterans!
This week in English II we are talking about/ reading about Wars. We made a powerpoint over our topic and presented it. Which brings me back to how a few weeks ago our school celebrated veterans day. Which is AWESOME. Sadly, I was gone that day, but I'm glad we as a school still celebrate the importance of the people who serve/served our country for our freedom. These are the people who are fighting to make sure we all have the life we do. You may think your life sucks, but other countries don’t have the freedoms we as americans do. If we didn’t have people who fought for that freedom, we wouldn’t either. These are the people that are willing to die for our country and should always be respected, no matter what.
There are some people who after school want to go into the military, which is amazing. Not saying that what everyone else wants to do isn’t amazing too, but its amazing that these people want to serve our country with their lives. Loving our country so much that you would die for our freedom is amazing. Never let anyone tell you differently. So I, as an american, am glad that we still have people so proud of our country that they are willing to fight it.
A huge thank you for all the Veterans who served our country! I am grateful that you were willing to put your life on the line to keep our freedom in America.
Quote of the week: ‘Too many people today don’t understand what a veteran is and what it means to be a veteran! Well let me tell you - a veteran, whether active duty, discharged, retired or reserve is someone who, at one point in his or her life wrote a blank check to the United States of America for an amount up to and including their life! That is an honor!! That deserves respect!! Our debt to these heroic men & women can never be repaid! They have earned our undying gratitude!!’ ~ By: LeeAnne Locken

How is living at strafford this week?Making the most it.
So these past few weeks, as a sophomore in English II, we’ve been practicing ACT writing, which I obviously know sucks. But if we didn’t practice for the writing ACT I wouldn’t ever have know what it was like to have to do that. School gives us opportunities like this so we know what it's like. Even if it's very stressful, our teachers are preparing us for our future. Plus practice makes perfect! So just try to appreciate that you get the opportunities you do.
I know school is stressful. But we only have a few more school days until thanksgiving break and only a few more weeks after until christmas break. So you only have to bare with school a little bit longer before you get a break. Just as long as you don’t give up. School is important for your future. So don’t waste your time not caring, because you're here, like it or not. So make the most of it.
Quote of the week: ‘Opportunities are usually disguised as hard work, so most people don’t recognize them.’~ Ann Landers

How is living at strafford high school? being your own person.
Being you is the best person you can be. There’s no reason to care what everyone else thinks of you, because it’s your opinion about yourself that truly matters. If you want to wear a different style, then wear it, become your own trend setter. don’t care what everyone else thinks, because they’re just following the status quo. You are your own person. don’t let anyone tell you what you can or can not: wear, do, or be.unless it’s an authority figure. please don't rebel against an authority figure. but, Just be the you, you want to be.
As a HIGH SCHOOL student, I know it's hard not to follow along with everyone else. But do you think that the people who achieved greatness followed the status quo? No, the wright brothers, for example, were told they were dumb to think that humans could ever fly and that it wasn’t possible. but, They didn’t care what anyone else thought, and they created the airplane. So you shouldn’t care what society determines is “ok” either. Be your own person. No one has to follow the status quo. you were created different for a reason, And it all starts with you.
Quote of the week: ‘Be who you are and say what you feel because those who mind don’t matter and those who matter don’t mind’- Dr.Seuss

how is living at strafford high school? understanding others
We as strafford students need to be kind to each other, everyone has tough times. Being nice to each other might help others to cope with those tough times. So just remember you do make a difference in other people's lives and how the feel everyday. Understand that if your mean to someone that will affect them in a way. But if you're nice to everyone that can make their day a whole lot better. Just be nice and encourage others to be their best.
You should want to set a positive and kind example for the people around you. If you’re always kind and positive, the people around you want to be kind and positive to. Being happy and kind is a choice, one that I hope everyone wants to make. I know sometimes it's hard, but it's always your choice to be down or happy. Just always be kind to the people around you even if you're going through tough times, they might be to, so be kind to each other.
Quote of the week: Set an example. Treat everyone with kindness and respect, even those who are rude to you - not because they are nice, but because you are. - anonymous

SO HOW IS LIVING AT STRAFFORD high school? Being positive and trying new things!
If in school, you remain positive, everyone ELSE seems positive AROUND you. my motto is ALWAYS smile and be nice to everyone, even if your having a bad day , everyone could use a smile! (now if you smile too much then people might think your crazy, but hey.) don't forget smiles are contagious! staying positive also has a nice affect over our whole school. when everyone is positive no one needs cheering up, and everyone is on the same page. Just remember in high school your only making an impression on people for the four years your here, so make them remember you in a positive way.
don't be afraid to venture out of your comfort zone. lots of people at strafford high school seem to be afraid of say public speaking, or just talking to someone they don't usually talk to. but, if you do you'll figure out that venturing out of your comfort zone isn't as bad as you thought it was GOING to be. When I venture out of my comfort zone, it actually seems to help, in a way, so i know what it's like to do the thing i've been afraid to do, because it wasn't in my comfort zone. venturing out of your comfort zone will also help you in the future. No one gets anywhere by staying in their comfort zone their whole life. if you never venture out of your comfort zone, you never grow. -k
